Veterans Deserve Better

On this Veterans Day, let’s remember what it means to be a patriot. A patriot doesn’t call veterans “losers” and “suckers.” They don’t try to overturn democratic elections. They sure as hell don’t abandon their post when their country needs them most. No, a patriot puts their country and their fellow citizens first – even if it isn’t convenient or popular. This Veterans Day, let’s pledge to be patriots. Let’s pledge to do better for our veterans.
What Does it Mean to Be a Patriot?
A patriot is someone who puts their country first. They’re willing to make sacrifices for the greater good. They believe in democracy and the rule of law. They don’t simply go along with the crowd – they stand up for what they believe in, even when it’s unpopular.
On this Veterans Day, let’s pledge to be patriots. Let’s pledge to do better by our veterans. Too often, we’ve seen politicians and so-called “leaders” denigrate and belittle those who have served our country. We’ve seen them use veterans as props in photo ops and then forget about them when the cameras are turned off. We’ve seen them make promises they never intend to keep – Promises like ensuring that every veteran has access to quality healthcare or that we will never again send our troops into harm’s way without giving them the resources they need to succeed.
